Before reading Choosing To SEE, I had expected this book to be about grief. But it is actually a story of a life lived in pursuit of Christ and all the ups and downs that such a life entails. As someone who has struggled with depression most of my life, I greatly appreciated Mary Beth’s honesty, and even humor, about her own battle with depression.
The adoption stories of Mary Beth and Steven’s three little girls from China were priceless! Especially the crazy adventure to adopt Stevey Joy before China shut down due to the SARS epidemic! I was amazed at Mary Beth’s ability to write in such candid detail of Maria’s last day this side of Heaven, and of the overwhelming grief in the days and weeks that followed. It will surely break your heart. But the Chapman family is not a family without hope…and this book will not leave you hopeless either.
Choosing to SEE has made the Chapman family even more dear to me than before. The only part of this book that let me down just a little was the last few chapters. They were made up of blogs primarily, most of which I’d already read. Even still, I recommended Choosing To SEE to my sister (who loved it) and I would recommend it to you as well.
This Bible is siutable for kids ages 5 and 6 and even 7 or 8. Kids will enjoy them once they open it up. It’s not too kiddy, yet not too grown up. I believe it’s a Bible they can grow with and keep for years to come. Some of the features I like are the Life in Times, the hands on activities, interesting facts and tidbits, and the books of the Bible introductions. Wish my Bible had some of these sections I really think these little extras will help them have a better understanding of the Bible…I have looked around for quite a while to find just the right Bible for my kids and these were the best that I have found for their age group.

Once again God has used Karen Kingsbury to express so many truths, thank you. The story was cast in a rut of the Hollywood setting with sexual sins and always relevant for the women who read them. There are so many times in life when we make choices that come back to haunt us later in life. And it is only when we turn to God for forgiveness and redemption that we can go forward without the past dragging us down.

Many marketing books have been written for general public interest but few has written on a very special group of people, that is God’s people. This book titled Faith-Based Marketing, The Guide to Reaching 140 Million Christian Customers by author Bob Hitchens, Greg Stielstra intend to do that.
If you’ve never explored the faith-based “market” before this book will leave you either scrambling to reposition your product or service to partner with the faith-based community or have your wheels turning to come up with a new product or service to launch into this massive, easy to reach, highly defined group of consumers. I had never really thought about the effectiveness of Christian radio stations.
I have friends that listen to these stations and the book correctly points out that they are the most loyal listening audience. They tend to listen to the same station all the time and that makes target marketing more effective. There are many more good tips on every type of marketing and how it may work toward the faith based community.
I found the author tends to repeat their message about radio station marketing media strongly on 3 different pages. Overall, as I read this book I found myself saying, “Wow”, “You’re kidding” and “I never knew”. Everything from understand the Christian consumer to creating a marketing plan to a comprehensive resources section is included, making this the Bible of marketing to the Christian community. Suitable for newbies to marketing.
I got a lot of sleep last night, and boy do I feel … well, smarter!
Doctors have said for years that sleep is good for your health, and that kids need at least eight hours a night to function properly. But now a new study shows that sleep can actually make you smarter.
Scientist took volunteers of equal intelligence and tested them based on the amount of sleep they’d had. Some were allowed to sleep eight hours while others were kept awake longer. The well-rested group did three times better on problem-solving tests than the others.
Doctors discovered that it’s the deepest part of sleep that helps the brain most. They call it the “slow wave” and it usually occurs during the first four hours of the night. It’s during this phase that the brain is actually working out problems that baffle us during the day, and reviving brain cells for the next morning.
So, if you want to be as smart as I feel right now, make sure you get plenty of sleep.

The Blue Enchantress is a captivating tale of love, forgiveness, acceptance, personal and spiritual growth, and learning to yield to the Master’s will. M.L.
